OUR GOAL

For many years, members of Lajna Ima’illah USA have expressed an interest in establishing a cottage industry to support the talent of our members and provide an opportunity for commerce with the goal of attaining a level of economic self-sufficiency. The Holy Prophet Muhammad (saw) was asked which occupation is best. He answered: “Working with one’s hands or buying and selling, provided it is free from trickery and fraud.” (Wisdom of the Holy Prophet: Economic Values). Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra) states: “No one should remain idle. In our nation, no one should remain inactive. Everyone should do hard work, learn skills and, when the need arises, should not feel dependent upon others” (Lajna Constitution p.36). Cottage industries can only be accomplished with the help and participation of all Lajna.

If you would like to promote your product, item or service for purchase on the Lajna Ima’illah USA website, please email National Secretary San’at wa Dastkari. Please provide a description of your item, product or service, your website, any images to help you sell your product/services, cost of the item/service, along with your contact information so that Lajna members can browse and contact you to place an order. Lajna Ima’illah USA is here to provide an avenue for you to market your business. However, once your information is reviewed and approved for posting, it will be left between you and your customer to work out any further details. According to Hazrat Musleh Maud (ra): “The real objective in establishing the department of San’at wa Dastkari was to provide work for needy women so that they may improve their living standard” (Lajna Constitution p. 33). May Allah enable us to help each other through establishing this cottage industry and help our fellow sisters in following in the footsteps of Hazrat Khadijah (ra). Ameen.
